['hɔjduː'bihɔr], Bezirk in Ostungarn, 6 211 km², 542 000 Einwohner, Hauptstadt ist Debrecen. Hajdú-Bihar grenzt an Rumänien. Auf den Schwarzerdeböden der Hajdúság werden v. a. Weizen und Mais angebaut, auf den Sandböden im Nordosten Obst und Gemüse. In der Hortobágy (Theißgebiet) gibt es neben Weide- und Ackerland noch Restgebiete der Puszta. Hajdúszoboszló ist ein Zentrum der Erdgasförderung und Kurort (heiße Quellen). Die Hauptindustrie konzentriert sich in Debrecen.
